Foul-mouthed, Rock’n’Roll 50’s throw-back Cherry-Bomb Nicky was born some time past in a land far, far away. Well, Essex to be precise, which can’t be helped but she has managed to turn her life around since then! She discovered her love for Tattoos and Tattooing down the back of the sofa one sunny day in her early childhood, and from then on in she decided that should be what she did with her time!
Way back in the early 80’s Nicky uprooted from Essex and moved to the grand ol’ town of Canterbury where she met, and married her bequiffed husband Chardy (the marrying part came some time after the meeting part as they met at school (ahhhh!) and people don’t get married at school, that’s not on the curriculum!!). A number of years later, Nicky gave birth to their only child, Ethan, and now they are a happy tattooed family (not Ethan, obviously, seeing as he’s only 8 years old)!!! Ahh, bless!
Not long after Ethan was born Nicky decided that now was the time to try and become a tattoo artist, because the gnomes were eating her face and making life difficult! So she conquered her fear of moths (well, actually she just kinda flapped her way past a rather large one that had her cornered in a tunnel!) and found herself within the walls of Pagans Echo Tattoo Studio in Canterbury where she badgered those inside for a time until they put a machine in her hand and told her what to do.
That was nearly 5 years ago now, and since then she hasn’t looked back, not once, ever, ‘cause there might be a really big moth just hovering there, not that moths can hover that well or, in fact, have much interest in Nicky, but there might be one!!! And in that time she has smoked more fags and drunk more coffee than anyone I have ever met. She has also won both the “best small male – colour” and “best of show” categories at the 2004 Gillingham Tattoo Convention.
Nicky joined us here at Electric Buddha in April 2005, and although she pertains to be a stalwart punk, ska and oi music fan, she is slowly becoming something of an Indie chick, due to the barrage of indie music that gets played at the studio, but she continues to put on excellent quality work of every variety
