Q: Does it hurt?
A: This is probably the most commonly asked question and the answer is quite simply, yes it will hurt. But everybody is different and we all feel pain in a slightly different way, so if someone says getting tattooed was the most painful thing ever, it may well have been, for them. That doesn't mean that you will find the experience as bad as they will.
Q: How much will my tattoo cost?
A: This is another very common question. Our pricing is based on how long we think the tattoo will take and not by the individual design. We have a minimum charge of £30, we base our work on the rate of £60 per hour and for those of you wanting very large pieces of work we have a daily rate of £250. The daily rate IS FOR ONE PERSON ONLY. We start as close to 11am as we can and we work through to roughly 5pm with a lunch break somewhere in the middle.
Q: How do I look after my tattoo once it's been done?
A: For the answer to this question see the separate AFTERCARE section of the website.
Q: How do I book an appointment at Electric Buddha Tattoo?
A: In order to book an appointment you will need to pop into the studio. This is so we can discuss with you your idea, work out how long it's likely to take, give you a rough idea of cost and so we can take a deposit from you. Leaving a deposit will guarantee you your allotted time and is subtracted from the final cost of the tattoo. The deposit is, however, non-refundable and we will only hold your appointment open for fifteen minutes. If you turn up later than fifteen minutes, or just don't turn up you will lose your deposit and may even be asked to leave a larger deposit next time. The amount of deposit you will need to leave depends on how much the final tattoo will cost. YOU WILL NOT BE BOOKED IN WITHOUT A DEPOSIT.
Q: I've been told by a friend to have a chat with someone at Electric Buddha Tattoo. How do I go about booking a consultation?
A: For consultations you can just phone us on 01843 855041 and book one. We will normally do the consultation at the beginning of the day (about 11.00am) or at the end of the day (about 4.30pm) and they are free. All we ask of you is to bring with ANY ideas you have regarding the tattoo you want. We will then sit down with you and go through your ideas and tell you which ones will work, which one's won't work and what we can do to the one's that won't work to make them work.
Q: I'm considering my first tattoo/getting a cover up done, where do I go from here?
A: Getting your first tattoo and looking to get a cover up done are very similar things, and the advice we give is pretty much the same. Do your homework. Whether you are looking to get your first tattoo or you are looking to have a cover up done the most important thing to do is to really look at lots of different images and really define what kind of images you like. You are by no means limited to existing tattoo designs as these days, there's not much that can't be put onto the skin in some fashion. If the pictures and images you are looking at are not already existing tattoo designs don't worry about whether or not they can be done as a tattoo, leave that side of things us. The same goes for cover ups, don't try and find a picture that you think will cover your existing tattoo, just find pictures you like the look of. When we sit down with you for your consultation we'll be able to tell you if your ideas will work or not, and we'll be able to tell you what we can do to the ideas that don't work to make them work. Also, when considering cover ups, you are not limited to just black tribal designs. People tend to think that because tribal is black that it's the best thing to use as a cover up, and quite often it's actually the worst. This is because tribal works due to the balance between positive image and negative space and so using it to cover everything can often result in a mass of black over the offending tattoo leaving the customer with yet another tattoo they are unhappy with. We try to use tribal as cover ups as little as possible and as a last resort (unless the customer really wants tribal), preferring to explore all other avenues first.
Q: I am under 18 and want a tattoo. I've been told that I can get one done with my parent's permission. Is this true?
A: In a word - No. It is completely illegal to tattoo anyone under 18. There's no parental consent clause and no amount of begging and pleading will change this and there is no way on earth that anyone here at Electric Buddha Tattoo will risk their career and reputation. If we think you look young we will ask for photographic ID, without it you will not be tattooed. Getting a tattoo by falsifying ID or by lying on the release form is classed as an act of fraud, which if you are under 18 will then fall on your parents. It's simply not worth the risk, for anyone.
